Charile's Angels

3 Reasons to See It: 1) It's actually a lot of fun; 2) the acting has some really bright spots; and 3) plenty of nostalgia.

3 Reasons to Not See It: 1) It's not a really great film; 2) the story was pretty generic; and 3) they made a twist I was not happy about (it's not that big of a deal, but still!).

Going in: I think this is going to be a meh movie. I'm really not expecting that much other than it will be enjoyable. If it accomplishes that, I'll be okay.

Popcorn: 7.5/10. I had a lot of fun. There was some nostalgia and some really cool moments. I got what I expected, maybe a little more.

Art: 6/10. Decent acting and popcorn fare, but not a thought-provoking movie. If you're only going to see 2 movies this, this isn't on the list. But if you're bored one day and it's streaming somewhere, why not? It's fun.

Acting: 5/6. There were some cameos that were powerhouses. Patrick Stewart. And he looked like he had a lot of fun. And Kristen Stewart was enjoyable to watch. Not as good as American Ultra, but better than Twilight or Snow White.

Music: 3/4. Nothing bad, nothing great.

Filming: 3/4. There were some filming choices that I questioned but not enough to ding it too much. Overall it wasn't bad but nothing stood out.

Art Dept: 3/4. Standard fare here. Although some would argue that the wardrobe was pretty fantastic.

Editing: 2/4. There's one scene in here that was cut in a pretty dramatically different way to where it stood out. And I saw it coming. The rest of the movie wasn't too bad, but that one scene wasn't necessary and I felt it was forced when it didn't need to be.

Story: 4/8. Charlie's Angels as a franchise has never been a deep-seated theme-driven show. It's strength is the villain of the week formula. This movie didn't deviate from that and while commercially it was a good choice, I do wish there had been some effort.

Directing: x/6. Decently put together and some strong points but nothing more than fluffy popcorn.

Production: 3/4. Overall, it's a good movie. Not great, but not bad either.
